College football fans across the country woke up to a scary sight on Halloween morning. Disney and YouTubeTV failed to reach a new carrier agreement, which means that all channels owned by Disney are no longer available on YouTubeTV. That impacts spots fans nationwide, as Disney owns the likes of ABC, ESPN, and SEC Network.
Former LSU coach details significance of beating LSU in Death Valley
LSU is on a bye this week, so Tiger fans don't have to worry about missing any LSU action on Saturday amid the drama. However, next week's game at No. 4 Alabama is scheduled to be broadcast on ABC. That throws a wrinkle in the viewing plans for plenty of Tiger fans across the country.
ESPN/YouTubeTV drama impacts viewing the LSU vs Alabama game
Kick-off between the Tigers and Tide is slated for 6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Nov. 8 at Bryant-Denny Stadium. Unless a new agreement is reached before then, the game will not be viewable on YouTubeTV. Without Disney in the mix, YouTubeTV is stuck with Big Noon Kickoff on FOX, with no SEC or Big 12 football on the docket.
The move is frustrating for all college football fans. ESPN recently rolled out a new all-in-one app, where all college football games broadcasted on all the ESPN networks, ABC, and SEC Network can be viewed. It's possible that development played into this current dispute. ESPN wants as many people as possible to download its new app, and moving games off of YouTubeTV is one way to do that.
Hopefully, an agreement is reached before games kick-off on Saturday. The Tigers being on a bye gives LSU fans more time to wait and see what happens before the Alabama game. Furthermore, in order to not miss any games this weekend, fans can try a free trial for FuboTV by clicking here.
