The LSU Tigers and Ole Miss Rebels are ready for a highly-anticipated matchup this Saturday in Oxford. The two teams have met every season since 1945, and this year's matchup is sure to be a good one. It's the first SEC road game for LSU in 2025, and the first road trip since visiting Clemson in Week 1.
LSU picked up an easy 56-10 win over FCS Southeastern Louisiana in Week 4. Ole Miss faced a tougher opponent, as the Rebels hosted Tulane. The Green Wave are one of the best teams in a non-power conference in the country, and Ole Miss made light work on Jon Sumrall's team. After closing as 11.5-point favorites, Ole Miss dominated from start to finish en route to a 45-10 win. Their dominating performance should concern LSU fans heading into Saturday's matchup.
Ole Miss dominates Tulane
College football fans were expecting a much closer game between the Green Wave and Rebels. It was a classic trap game for Ole Miss, who was coming off an emotional roller coaster win against Arkansas, and had a massive game against LSU on deck. In those types of situations, teams tend to go through the motions and don't put together strong efforts, which leads to upsets.
But it didn't matter. Ole Miss cruised to an easy win as the game was never in doubt. Lane Kiffin's squad led 23-3 at halftime and out-scored Tulane 22-7 in the fourth quarter. If it wasn't for a late garbage time touchdown from Tulane, the score would have been even more lopsided. Ole Miss out-gained Tulane 548-282 and held the Green Wave passing attack to just 10 completions on 29 attempts for a measly 104 yards.
Ole Miss owns one of the best offenses in all of college football. Through four games, Ole Miss is averaging 44.8 points per game and 543.3 yards of total offense per game. The Rebels are playing complimentary football, as both the running and passing game have been effective. This was evident against Tulane, as Ole Miss threw for 307 yards and rushed for 241 yards.
Austin Simmons began the season as QB1 in Oxford, but an ankle injury sidelined him for the last two weeks. But the Rebel offense has continued to hum in his absence. Backup QB Trinidad Trambliss is emerging as a star with his stellar play so far in 2025. Trambliss has completed 67.7% of his passes for 719 yards with four touchdowns and zero interceptions. He's also been effective running the ball, totaling 195 yards and 5.4 yards per carry to go along with two rushing scores.
The LSU defense has been spectacular so far this season, but this will be their toughest test yet. The Ole Miss offense is humming, and going on the road presents a tough challenge for Blake Baker and company. In what oddsmakers deem a toss up, the Tigers have a tall task ahead of them.
