LSU Football cracks the final three for elite four-star defensive lineman
As LSU is on the bye this weekend it becomes an important weekend for the Tigers in recruiting. Offensive coordinator and Quarterbacks coach Joe Sloan will head North to Michigan to attend Bryce Underwood's Playoff Game as the Michigan Wolverines push to flip Underwood. Other position coaches will get on the road as well to continue their relationships with commits and recruiting targets.
The Tigers got some great news for the 2026 recruiting class on Thursday as defensive lineman JaReylan McCoy set his commitment date for January 2nd and named LSU one of three finalists.
The Tigers cracked the final three alongside the USC Trojans and the Tennessee Volunteers. On3's Industry Recruiting rankings have McCoy as the 83rd best recruit in the class, the 7th ranked defensive lineman, and the 5th ranked player in Mississippi.
The best news for LSU and the other finalists is that the two in-state schools especially Ole Miss did not make the cut for McCoy. The Rebels were viewed as the favorite for McCoy with On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine giving the Rebels a 70.6% chance of landing McCoy. Alabama had the second best chance followed by LSU who was given a 6.4% chance to win out.
LSU is set to get McCoy to Baton Rouge in a few weeks for a visit but, the Trojans will get the final visit before he makes his decision.
A great chance to build the 2026 recruiting class
The LSU Football program currently holds the tenth ranked recruiting class in the 2026 recruiting class with four instate commitments. The State of Louisiana is loaded with talent in the 2026 class which gives LSU a great chance to land a solid class. What makes a great recruiting class is going into another state and landing elite recruits like LSU has with Bryce Underwood and DJ Pickett.
