The month of October has been filled with rumors that LSU may lose its five star quarterback commit Bryce Underwood to hometown Michigan. The talks started when Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy pledged up to $3 Million Dollars to help Michigan get a quarterback as the Wolverines go through quarterback struggles.

This week the rumors only got louder as it was reported Sherrone Moore started to make his push while other boosters were rallying to put together a competitive NIL offer. Moore's push included telling Michigan's four star commitment Carter Smith that the Wolverines were making a push for Bryce Underwood.

As the Wolverines continue to prioritize Bryce Underwood, on Wednesday night Carter Smith announced via a statement on twitter that he was decommiting from Michigan.

Smith committed to Michigan back in November of 2023 and considering the news as of late, the pursuit of Underwood likely drove him away.

On one hand Smith decommiting from Michigan doesn't mean that Michigan will land Bryce Underwood and it may not have an impact. Its certainly possible that Michigan prioritizing someone else led to him exploring his options.

The other side of this should be very concerning to LSU's staff and the fanbase as this could be a recruiting bidding war down the stretch. The Wolverines will only intensify their push for Bryce Underwood now as they don't have a quarterback on board in this recruiting class with signing day right around the corner.

Thus far, Bryce Underwood has been true to his word

After committing to LSU, all Bryce Underwood has done is stick true to his word showing he's committed to LSU. Despite nearly every school calling, Underwood has only taken recruiting visits to LSU even though he's right around the corner from Michigan. The best news for LSU is that Underwood still gets to take his official visit and he'll be in town for the Alabama game where LSU's staff can iron out its pitch to the family. It's not time to go into a panic just yet, until Underwood shows up in Ann Arbor, there is no reason to not believe his word.
