LSU Football's College Football Playoff chances nearly double after win over Ole Miss
The main goal of every College Football season is to be the last team standing at the end of the season. In order to get the chance to do that, you need to make it into the newly expanded 12 team College Football Playoff. Heading into this week, LSU was given a 13.7% chance of making the Playoff according to ESPN's College Football Power Index.
After knocking off the Ole Miss Rebels, LSU's chances of making the College Football Playoff have nearly doubled as the Tigers have a 26.4% chance of making the Playoff. The Tigers rank 17th in terms of teams with the best chances of making the playoff.
The Tigers didn't get much help around the country this weekend as the Ole Miss Rebels and the Ohio State Buckeyes were the only teams ahead of LSU to lose.
This weekend, the LSU Football team should get some more help thanks to some of the matchups on the schedule. Texas has a 95.9% chance of making the playoff and they'll face Georgia who has a 68.4% chance meaning the losers' chances should take a massive dip. Alabama (68.9%) will travel to Knoxville to face Tennessee (46.2%) with the loser taking their second loss in SEC play.
Miami (73.2%) has another tough tets on the road against Louisville which could give LSU some upset help. Indiana (47.3%) will face Nebraska in their toughest test yet and the teams atop the Big Ten would be massive for the SEC.
There are a few other games that could provide that massive shocking loss to a top ranked team that could give LSU a ton of help.
Make sure you handle your business this weekend
This weekend, LSU has a difficult battle that they won't get a ton of credit for when they face off against the Arkansas Razorbacks. Given how massive the win over Ole Miss was and how emotional that game was it can be easy for the winning team to sleepwalk through the week. Brian Kelly needs to make sure his team is focused and ready to go this weekend so LSU can continue its forward momentum.
