The Lane Kiffin effect sparks unprecedented ticket surge for LSU Football
On Wednesday night, LSU moved to 5-0 with a 12-1 win over Nicholls. John Pearson put an exclamation point on the victory, as his three-run home run ended the game via the 10-run rule in the bottom of the 8h inning. Pearson's monstrous blast left the bat with an exit velocity of 106 mph and traveled a distance of 405 feet.

The Tigers have now won three games via run-rule, and have plated a whopping 63 total runs through five games. That's good for an average of over 12 runs per game, and LSU has out-scored its opponents by a margin of 63-23 to start the new campaign. Sure LSU's wins have come against Milwaukee, Kent State, and Nicholls, but those are impressive numbers nonetheless.
Now, multiple matchups against some tough teams await this weekend in Jacksonville.
LSU Baseball preparing for Jax Baseball Classic
This weekend, Jay Johnson's squad heads to Jacksonville to participate in the Jax Baseball Classic. The Tigers will face Indiana on Friday, Notre Dame on Saturday, and UCF on Sunday.
The Hoosiers are just 1-3 on the new season, but they traveled to Chapel Hill to take on the 11th-ranked Tar Heels to start the season. Already battle-tested, the Hoosiers should not be overlooked.
Notre Dame is off to a 2-1 start after taking two of three from FAU to open 2026. UCF is off to the best start of LSU's three opponents in Jacksonville, as the Knights are 3-1 to start the new campaign. UCF swept Siena at home and then lost a heartbreaker to Miami (FL) in Coral Gables on Tuesday by a score of 8-7 in 13 innings.
The Tigers head to Jacksonville with plenty of momentum following their convincing 5-0 start. Jake Brown is hitting .500 with four home runs, while newcomer Zach Yorke has made an immediate impact with a .333 average and two homers of his own.
LSU's first game against Indiana at the Jax Baseball Classic gets started on Friday at 1:00 p.m. CT.
