Looking for their first commitment for the 2027 class, the LSU Tigers seem to be the frontrunners to land one of the nation's top athletes.

Rivals' Sam Spiegelman has logged an expert prediction for LSU to land five-star TE Ahmad Hudson, who is rated as the top tight end in the 2027 recruiting class. Hudson was on campus for LSU's win over Louisiana Tech this past weekend, and has several other visits lined up throughout the fall.

Hudson is an in-state product, as he hails from Ruston and is both a football and basketball star at Ruston High School. According to 247Sports Composite, Hudson is rated as the No. 1 player in Louisiana and the No. 16 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class. He is also rated as the No. 1 tight end in the country. In addition to LSU, the 6-foot-5, 230-pound TE also has offers from Alabama, Florida State, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Auburn, Florida, Ohio State, and Ole Miss, among others.

Hudson is described by 247Sports Scouting Analyst Gabe Brooks as a "large, athletic pass-catching target who owns promising snaps at wideout and as a traditional attached tight end." Brooks adds that Hudson "knows how to go get it and possesses the physical tools and explosiveness to do so."

The dual-sport athlete collected 39 catches for 754 yards and six touchdowns during his sophomore campaign. On the hardwood, Hudson averaged 21 points, 14 rebounds, and three blocks per game last season en route to earning Ruston Daily Leader MVP and Louisiana District 2-5A MVP honors.

At this time, it appears that LSU is in the driver's seat to land Hudson. It would be a big get for Brian Kelly and his staff as they look to start building their 2027 recruiting class on a high note. Landing the five-star recruit would be a great way to do so.
