You know the college football season is quickly approaching when a Wednesday closed practice leads to wild injury rumors that set the internet ablaze.
No, Garrett Nussmeier did not suffer a major injury at today's closed practice in Baton Rouge. Multiple LSU insiders have squashed the rumor shortly after it began on Wednesday afternoon.
Folks, Garrett Nussmeier did not suffer a major injury today. Multiple sources said he's ok. I think you can breathe. https://t.co/bY80UDI2l0

Today's practice was closed to media members, so the internet saw an opportunity and tried to run with it. Several internet trolls and parody accounts tried to pull a fast one, but Tiger fans can take a deep breath after the "reports" have been confirmed to just be social media nonsense and not based in fact.

No medical reports have been released as of yet. The belief is a torn ACL. More news to come at a later date. pic.twitter.com/wU91ZNRh68
Nussmeier did go down with an apparent injury in today's practice, but he is good to go and there isn't a cause for concern or a major injury. LSU's camp is progressing as expected, and Nussmeier should be ready to roll as LSU battles Clemson on Aug. 30. After Dabo Swinney's latest prediction, there is nothing LSU fans want more than to hand Clemson an 0-1 record in front of their home fans.
LSU has high hopes in 2025, which includes a College Football Playoff birth and shot at a National Championship. Bringing Nussmeier back to Baton Rouge was at the top of Brian Kelly's to-do list this offseason, and with Nussmeier returning, the Tiger offense could be in for an electric season.
Nussmeier threw for 4,052 yards and 29 touchdowns while completing 64.2 percent of his passes last season. With an elite group of receivers around him, Nussmeier could be in for an even bigger season in 2025.
I heard Garrett Nussmeier shredded his ACL, PCL, MCL, and his ECHL is hanging on by a thread.

Shocked they didn’t amputate right there in the IFF.
#LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier did NOT tear his ACL.

Please find your trusted sources before the season begins. There are a bunch of troll accounts trying to spread fake news.
If you don’t see any of the Louisiana news/beat reporters talking about it, it’s likely not true.
