In the immediate aftermath of Michigan firing head coach Sherrone Moore, LSU fans immediately began to wonder what the future holds for Bryce Underwood. The former 5-star recruit infamously flipped from LSU to Michigan last November, and threw for 2,229 yards during his freshman season.

But now that Moore is gone, Tiger fans are wanting Underwood to head to Baton Rouge to play for the Tigers. Furthermore, Tiger legend Tyrann Mathieu has already started recruiting Underwood to LSU via social media. Mathieu took to X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday night pleading Underwood to head to Baton Rouge.

Is there a chance Bryce Underwood transfers to LSU?

Relatively speaking, Underwood underperformed during his much-anticipated freshman season in 2025. In total, Underwood completed 61.1% of his passes for 2,229 yards and 9 touchdowns with 6 interceptions. He also ran for 323 yards and 5 touchdowns on 74 carries. The flashes were there, but the consistency wasn't.

Lane Kiffin is great at developing QB talent, and could make for a perfect coach for Underwood. This season, Kiffin brought in Division II National Champion Trinidad Chambliss and led him to one of the best seasons from a QB in the entire country.

Chambliss didn't take over as Ole Miss' starter until Week 3, but he thrived with his opportunity. On the season, the Rebel QB threw for 3,016 yards and 18 touchdowns with just 3 interceptions. He also ran for 470 yards and 6 touchdowns on 118 carries. The possibility of a Kiffin/Underwood pairing would have LSU fans fired up.

But there is still a solid chance that Underwood stays in Ann Arbor. He is a Michigan product hailing from Detroit, and his NIL package is among the highest in the country. Underwood is among the highest earners in all of college football, reportedly making north of $3 million per year and close to $12 million over a 4-year deal with the Wolverines. At this point in time, it would take a truly perfect situation for Underwood to leave.

But LSU has a lot to offer, and fans and famous alums such as Mathieu are hungry for the Tigers to compete for another National Championship. With that in mind, it wouldn't be surprising to see more fans jump on board with the idea of bringing Underwood to Baton Rouge.
