Interim head coach Frank Wilson has led the LSU Tigers to a 2-2 record after taking over the program following Brian Kelly's firing. With the Lane Kiffin era underway, Wilson is in the process of preparing to lead the Tigers in the Texas Bowl against the Houston Cougars on December 27.
Home-state hero plans to enter the transfer portal in crushing blow to LSU
But after that, Wilson's future remains unknown. Wilson said earlier this week that he has not been given any clarity regarding his future at LSU. It's been reported that further talks between Lane Kiffin and Wilson are expected to come after the Texas Bowl, but now another SEC team is pursuing Wilson's services.
Texas and Steve Sarkisian reportedly eyeing Frank Wilson
According to On3's Shea Dixon, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is eyeing Wilson to be his running backs coach for the Longhorns. Texas RB coach Chad Scott was fired after just one season in Austin, and Sarkisian could be looking to hire Wilson as Scott's replacement.

Losing Wilson to Texas would be a big blow to Kiffin and LSU. Wilson is an elite recruiter, and is well respected and beloved by both LSU fans and players.
Wilson has been engrained in Louisiana football his whole life, and has tremendous relationships with high school coaches in the state. If Texas were to poach him, LSU would risk losing some elite in-state talent to the Longhorns. That is not something that Kiffin wants to risk, so it will be interesting to see if Sarkisian's interest in Wilson brings any action from Kiffin.
Wilson has earned several accolades for his recruiting efforts at LSU, including being recognized as the nation's Recruiter of the Year by Rivals.com in 2011, the Top Recruiter in College Football by NFL.com in 2014, and the SEC Recruiter of the Year by Scout.com in 2015. He was also acknowledged as the top assistant coach in the country in 2011.
Now in his second stint in Baton Rouge, Wilson has led LSU's efforts in bringing in elite talent and some of the most decorated players in program history. Some notable names Wilson has recruited to Baton Rouge include Leonard Fournette, Tyrann Mathieu, La'el Collins, Jarvis Landry, and Odell Beckham Jr.
