LSU makes a jump in the US LBM Coaches Poll despite being on the bye week
This weekend was pretty quiet for LSU while they were on the Bye Week before facing off against Alabama in a game with massive implications for the Playoff race. While the Tigers were on the bye week, you often root for upsets around the country as it gives LSU a better chance at making the Playoff. The upsets happened for LSU with Clemson, Texas A&M, and Iowa State all losing to unranked teams.
The latest Coaches Poll has given LSU a boost as the Tigers jump up three spots to thirteenth after they were ranked 16th last week.
The move to 13th gives you a sense of how close LSU is to playoff contention as the Tigers are right on the outside looking in for the College Football Playoff. The Tigers will have a chance to play their way back into the picture when they face off against 11th ranked Alabama this weekend.
The biggest head scratcher is the fact that Ole Miss is ranked ahead of LSU at 12th after we already saw the teams face off with LSU winning the game.
Ahead of LSU, Indiana is ranked 10th despite being undefeated which means they'll likely drop completely out of the picture after they face Ohio State. The Tigers truly just need to beat Alabama as if they lose there is next to no chance that they'll make the Playoff.
This weekend was very successful for LSU nonetheless as a few teams losing around the country gave LSU some new life as they won't need as much help as we all thought after they took their second loss last week.
