As the LSU Football team's season nears its official end and as the activity in the transfer portal is nearly over, all focus turns toward the 2026 recruiting class. The Tigers currently hold the Nation's 7th ranked recruiting class in the 2026 cycle with four commitments early on.
The Tigers will be in contention for one of the top wide receivers in the class as they've cracked the Top Ten schools for four-star wide receiver Somourian Wingo.
According to On3's Industry recruiting rankings, Wingo is the 33rd ranked receiver in the class, the 207th ranked player in the class, and the 34th ranked player in Florida. LSU jumped into the recruitment of Wingo in September when the staff offered him a scholarship and now find themselves in the group receiving consideration.
The Tigers have already gotten off to a fast start landing wide receivers landing commitments from Louisiana Natives Jakai Anderson and Kenny Darby who was the most productive receiver in the State this season.
Last recruiting cycle, the Tigers fared poorly with wide receivers signing just two wide receivers in TaRon Francis and Phillip Wright both out of Louisiana. If LSU is going to finish with another Top Ten recruiting class and even push for a top five recruiting class, it starts with landing more high end recruits.
As LSU wide receivers continue to take the NFL by storm setting records every week, the Tigers need to start leveraging their success into recruiting success. Given how well LSU has done developing wide receivers, there is no reason why LSU shouldn't be able to land the top receiver hauls in every class. After signing just two receivers last cycle, the Tigers will certainly have to sign a bigger wide receiver class just from a numbers stand point.
