LSU misses out on five star In-State defensive lineman Jahkeem Stewart
As of late it has been doom and gloom for the LSU Football program on the recruiting trail as we apporached signing day. LSU lost Five-Star Quarterback Bryce Underwood to Michigan, Five-Star Cornerback Kade Phillips to Texas, Four-Star Devin Harper to Ole Miss, Jesse Harrold decommitted, and Mike Tyler flipped to South Carolina on signing day as was expected.
The Tigers made a late push for Jahkeem Stewart trying to beat out USC, Oregon, and Ohio State but, they fell short as Stewart picked the Trojans.
This is a blow for LSU as the Tigers see one of the top players in the state leave for California but, it seemed that LSU was never as close as you'd hope. When Stewart transferred to reclassify, Frank Wilson was a massive part in keeping Stewart In-State at Edna Karr which gave LSU the best chance but, in the end Stewart always seemed set on leaving Louisiana.
As late as last week, LSU seemed out of the race for Jahkeem Stewart as USC had seemingly pulled far ahead of everyone but, LSU got him in for a midweek visit making one last push.
The reason this isn't a massive loss for LSU is the fact that Stewart won't be an immediate plug and play player most likely as he's supposed to be a Junior but, he couldn't play this season with the transfer to Edna Karr. If Stewart is able to develop under and reach his full potential, then this will be a blow for LSU but, with the transfer portal the way it is now LSU can always circle back in the future.
This isn't the last hope for LSU when it comes to attempting to land five-stars Today as later today offensive lineman Solomon Thomas will announce his decision with LSU looking like it will pull off the flip.
