On Saturday, the LSU Football team hosted some of their top recruits and top recruiting targets as a part of their Junior Day. The vast majority of the attention is on the 2026 recruiting class as LSU tries to build on the fifth ranked recruiting class they've built up.
This weekend was heavily focused on the In-State players LSU is recruiting and the list grew this weekend as the staff handed out a few offers mostly in the 2027 class. The Tigers did make one interesting offer in the 2026 recruiting class as the Tigers offered Dezyrian Ellis.
#AGTG After a great conversation with @CoachBlakeBaker & @CoachCRaymond I am blessed to receive an offer from @LSUfootball #GeauxTigers @aburnette318 @IAmTaeTrent @football_fphs @RecruitLouisian @samspiegs @BillyEmbody @On3Recruits @Rivals pic.twitter.com/4rqEuNaqcs

Dezyrian Ellis was offered by Corey Raymond and Blake Baker meaning that the Tigers are targeting him at defensive back. That part of the equation is interesting as Ellis is the quarterback at Franklin Parish coming off of a season where he passed for 2,189 with 40 total touchdowns.
The Tigers likely like Ellis' size and athleticism paired with some of the play he's put on film during 7 on 7 events. We'll likely see Ellis start to play defensive back more over the next year and he could emerge as a great developmental piece for LSU.
The LSU Football team has done something similar and recently with Ju'Juan Johnson. The Tigers signed Ju'Juan Johnson who was a record setting quarterback at Lafayette Christian Academy but, when he got to LSU he played safety before moving to running back when John Emery Jr got injured. Johnson had more experience playing defensive back but, LSU clearly likes what they've seen from Ellis and if defensive back doesn't work out he could also see a positional change.
The next two cycles we should see LSU make a massive push with In-State recruits as Louisiana has a ton of players projecting as top players Nationally in the High School ranks.
