On Wednesday, the Spring Transfer Portal window opened in College Football creating a ten day window of chaos where players can enter the transfer portal seeking a new program. The LSU Football team isn't expected to have a busy transfer period as the Tigers added a massive transfer class along with one of the Nation's best recruiting classes.
The Tigers have only suffered one loss to the transfer portal as veteran running back John Emery Jr entered the transfer portal on Wednesday Night. The move was expected as Brian Kelly told the media when Emery announced his return that if Emery was going to play this season it wouldn't be for LSU.
One of the players many pointed to as a potential player that would leave LSU for the transfer portal was running back Kaleb Jackson. Heading into his Sophomore season, Jackson was expected to be LSU's lead back after showing flashes as a Freshman while emerging during camp. As Caden Durham emerged, Jackson was limited to just 44 carries on the year and with two top-10 running back recruits coming in with Harlem Berry and JT Lindsey, it was a concern that Jackson could leave LSU.
On Thursday, Kaleb Jackson spoke to the media where he shutdown any transfer rumors confirming he will be back with LSU this year.
The news is important for LSU as the Tigers keep one of their veteran running backs in the room for the 2025 season. While both freshman running backs have loads of talent, it often takes time developing to become polished in pass protection and to learn some of the intricate details of playing running back which Jackson has developed.
Last season, Jackson bulked up for LSU getting to 235 pounds but, with the added weight he didn't look as explosive as he was during his freshman season. Jackson told the media that he'll be returning back to 225 pounds which is exciting news as he looks to become the force everyone thought he could be.
LSU's running back room for 2025 now has a ton of depth and a mix of youth and experience which is promising. As Jackson continues to get first team reps in practice, he should be in store for his biggest season yet if he can continue to develop.
