On Thursday Night, LSU got stunned as the Nation's Top Quarterback and Top Overall recruit Bryce Underwood flipped his commitment from LSU to Michigan. The loss of Underwood deals a blow to LSU and its recruiting class as he's one of the highest rated recruits ever. The loss of Underwood with less than two weeks from Early National Signing Day will likely lead to LSU pursuing a transfer quarterback and that may be a good thing.

The Tigers have landed two true Five-Star Quarterbacks in Ryan Perrilloux and Russell Shepard since 2000. Perrilloux was dismissed from the team while Shepard was moved to Wide Receiver. The Tigers have also landed commitments from two five stars that won't end up on campus in Bryce Underwood and Gunner Kiel who flipped to Brian Kelly and Notre Dame.

LSU has also landed some highly ranked quarterback recruits as of late in Garrett Nussmeier, Colin Hurley, Rickie Collins, Myles Brennan, Walker Howard, Peter Parrish, and Max Johnson. The Tigers however haven't had the success you would hope for developing quarterbacks out of High School.

Now that LSU may need to pursue a Transfer Quarterback it may end out being one of the best things for LSU. The last two starting quarterbacks LSU has lured out of the Transfer Portal are Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels. The two have both won Heisman Trophies with Burrow winning the 2019 National Championship.

If Garrett Nussmeier leaves for the NFL Draft or if LSU decides to go out and pursue a transfer to compete for the job next season, the Tigers will most likely end up perfectly fine. The Transfer Portal produces players like Cam Ward, Dillon Gabriel, Jayden Daniels, Jaxson Dart, Bo Nix, and Quinn Ewers on a yearly basis.

Its all about allocation for LSU going forward

If the reported number is accurate, LSU has now freed up $1.5 million that was supposed to go to Bryce Underwood. If LSU chooses to pursue transfers, the extra money can be spread out across a ton of players to add starting caliber talent to this roster. The Tigers can also use this money to keep the committed recruits on board especially the Top-100 recruits. LSU now has some added resources but, where they allocate that money will be the most important.
