Lane Kiffin and Eric Wolford have a lot of work to do in re-vamping the LSU offensive line. The Tiger offensive line struggled mightily in 2025 and dealt with injuries all season long, and LSU fans are hungry to see a vast improvement in 2026.

LSU and Lane Kiffin should go all-in on WR Omarion Miller in the portal

As Kiffin and Wolford continue building LSU's roster for next season, they suffered another tough blow on Tuesday. Redshirt freshman Coen Echols is reportedly set to enter the transfer portal, which leaves LSU's offensive line even thinner.

Coen Echols joins Carius Curne as LSU offensive linemen to enter the transfer portal

Echols played in five games last season as a true freshman, and appeared in all 12 regular season games with seven starts in 2025. He spent most of his time at left guard, but was also featured at right guard against Southeastern Louisiana back on September 20. He also saw time at center in 2024.

Echols seemed prime for a starting role in 2026, but instead intends to enter the transfer portal to look for a new opportunity. He first came to LSU as a 4-star recruit out of Katy, TX, and was ranked as the No. 14 interior offensive lineman in the country for the 2024 recruiting class.

Echols now joins Carius Curne as Tiger offensive linemen to announce intent to enter the portal. Curne was rated as a 5-star prospect and the No. 3 interior offensive lineman in the 2025 recruiting class. He played in seven games during the 2025 regular season with starts at both left and right tackle.

Kiffin figures to hit the portal hard for OL help

Echols and Curne choosing to test the portal waters leaves LSU with little OL depth and experience at the moment. LSU is set to return freshmen Solomon Thomas and redshirt junior Braelin Moore next season, but there are still a lot of unknowns surround the unit as a whole heading into 2026.

4-star OL prospect Brysten Martinez is on the way, and could battle for playing time right away. The Gonzales, LA native is rated by 247Sports as the No. 4 player in Louisiana and the No. 10 offensive lineman in the country. Furthermore, 3-star OL prospect Ryan Miret flipped his commitment from Ole Miss to LSU in the wake of Kiffin's hiring.

But as it stands, there are plenty of question marks surrounding the Tiger offensive line. Looking to bolster an OL group that underperformed in 2025, Kiffin figures to hit the portal hard in search of OL support.
