The LSU defense was completely revamped last offseason by defensive coordinator Blake Baker. His efforts produced a Tiger defense that ranked 15th in the country in scoring defense. However, the 2026 Tigers could be without a key playmaker up front.

LSU defensive lineman Ahmad Breaux enters the transfer portal
In total, Breaux appeared in 24 games for the Tigers throughout his LSU career. He played in all 13 games last season as a true freshman, and developed into a consistent contributor on the LSU defensive front. He leaves Baton Rouge with 36 tackles to his name.
An in-state product hailing from Ruston, Breaux was rated as a 3-star prospect and top-700 recruit for the 2023 recruiting class by On3. He was ranked as the No. 20 prospect in the state of Louisiana and the No. 61 defensive lineman in the country according to the 247Sports Composite. During his senior season in 2023, Breaux helped lead Ruston High School capture the Division I non-select state title with a 31-17 win over Zachary, which was Ruston's first state title since 1990.
After two seasons in Baton Rouge, Breaux now plans to play elsewhere in 2026. He has two years of eligibility remaining, and could be in line for an increased role for another Power 4 program.
Lane Kiffin has brought in several flips and held on to LSU's top recruits, but has also seen multiple contributors from this past season decide to hit the portal. Breaux's decision to enter the transfer portal comes during LSU's second transfer window of the season. The portal opened for all LSU players for 30 days following the firing of Brian Kelly back on October 26, and is now open once again following the conclusion of the regular season. As Kiffin continues building his 2026 roster, Breaux may not be the last Tiger to hit the portal.
