When the clocks hit zeros in LSU's regular season finale against Oklahoma we were all put on NFL Draft watch. The Tigers had players like Will Campbell, Mason Taylor, Emery Jones Jr, and Garrett Nussmeier among others that stood out as potential players that could enter the draft. When Brian Kelly said after the game that LSU will get some players we don't expect to return everyone thought and hoped that Mason Taylor may return for one more season.

On Thursday, Mason Taylor opted to pass up on his final season declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft.

Mason Taylor leaves behind an incredible legacy as LSU's All-Time leader in receptions and receiving yards for a tight end. As a Ture Freshman, Taylor made himself a name LSU fans will remember forever catching the two point play to beat Alabama in Overtime clinching the SEC West, and if he didn't do anything after that moment he'd still be remembered forever.

Instead, Taylor gave LSU three incredible seasons catching 129 passes for 1,408 yards and six touchdowns. Where Taylor doesn't get enough credit is for his ability as a blocker as he was often making the crucial block to set up a massive scoring play for LSU.

Heading into 2025, LSU will be banking on Trey'Dez Green, Ka'Morreun Pimpton, and Signee JD LaFleur. As LSU loses Mason Taylor and tight ends coach Slade Nagle, LSU will need to replace the position coach then look into the transfer portal to find an inline tight end that can help LSU as a blocker.

If Garrett Nussmeier returns next season he'll have a new crew of pass catchers as LSU will lose three of its four leading receivers in Kyren lacy, CJ Daniels, and Mason Taylor meaning players like Aaron Anderson, Chris Hilton, and Trey'Dez Green need to take the next step.
