The Spring Transfer Portal window in College Football is officially open as Wednesday opened the second 10 day window where College Football players can find their next programs. This Winter, the LSU Football program had a massive transfer cycle adding 16 players giving the Tigers a College Football Playoff worthy roster.

While LSU went all in this Winter, the Spring Transfer Portal may be less exciting for LSU Football fans. On Tuesday, Brian Kelly spoke to the media where he spoke on what the Tigers' approach may be this time around.

"It wouldn’t surprise me if we didn’t have anybody in the portal on either side, either leaving our program or adding. If you ask me right now, I would be happy to take this roster right into May on both sides of it. Maybe that’s fool’s gold. Maybe that’s wishing more than it is anything else. But I like what we’ve done with this roster. I like the development of it."

Last Spring, the LSU Football team wasn't active in the Spring Transfer Portal which drove LSU fans a little crazy as there were clear holes in the roster. The Tigers only added defensive tackles Gio Paez and Jay'Viar Suggs, along with punter Blake Ochsendorf. The Tigers weren't overly active last Spring, as asking prices are much higher in the spring due to far fewer entries.

Heading into the Spring Transfer window, there aren't any massive needs for the Tigers but there are a few positions LSU could use extra pieces. If there are high level defensive tackles, safeties, or offensive linemen available, it should be something that LSU jumps on as the rest of the roster is loaded.

The transfer portal is officially open as of April 16th and players will be able to enter their names through April 25th.

Incoming Transfers (1):

Bernard Gooden - Defensive Tackle - USF

For close to a year, LSU Football fans have been begging the Tigers to add a top defensive tackle to help bolster the defensive line. This time around, the LSU Tigers get their guy, landing USF transfer Bernard Gooden who was ranked as the top defensive tackle in the transfer portal. Gooden gives the Tigers another solid rotational piece to give Kyle Williams plenty of pieces to deploy inside.

Departing Transfers (3):

John Emery Jr - Running Back

Coming off of his second torn ACL, John Emery Jr announced he'd be returning for a 7th year in College Football. Brian Kelly announced to the media that Emery Jr wouldn't be doing so at LSU as the Tigers have added youth at the position so, Emery looks elsewhere to play college football.

Dilan Battle - Defensive Tackle

The first unexpected transfer loss of the spring came as LSU signee Dilan Battle announced he'd be entering the transfer portal. Battle was recruited to LSU by Bo Davis so, he could be looking elsewhere for a better fit.

Javen Nicholas - Wide Receiver

Former walk on wide receiver Javen Nicholas entered the transfer portal looking to get on the field elsewhere. Given all of the talent LSU brought in this year at the position, it was going to be tough to find playing time at LSU for Nicholas.
