On Saturday Night, LSU laid a massive egg against Alabama ending any hopes LSU had of earning a place in the College Football Playoff. The season is over aside from a few meaningless games which means everyone will start to do an autopsy on the season. While many will be surprised by the way this season played out and how Saturday played out but, this team tried to tell us all season long who they truly were but, nobody wanted to listen.

In the Season Opener, this team showed everyone it was going to be a shaky season when the Tigers lost to USC. This USC team is now 4-5 and LSU sits with Rutgers, Utah State, and Wisconsin as the only other teams that USC beat. Miller Moss diced LSU passing for 378 yards and a touchdown completing 27 of 36 passes, he has since been benched as he's had a bad season.

The very next week against Nicholls State, LSU was only leading by two points during the third quarter before they were able to pull away. The defense got exposed as Nicholls State ran for 145 yards and two touchdowns averaging 3.9 yards per play.

The next week, LSU was very lucky to escape against South Carolina as the Gamecocks easily should've won that game. Garrett Nussmeier had two pick sixes called back on questionable penalty calls. The Gamecocks offense was shredding the defense before LaNorris Sellers got injured which completely changed the game.

The next two weeks LSU built back up some expectations handling UCLA and South Alabama.

The Ole Miss win was massive yet, LSU never led in that game until the game was over on the overtime winner. In that game, Garrett Nussmeier started to show reasons for concerns as he threw two interceptions.

That issue bubbled up in the Texas A&M game as Garrett Nussmeier threw three picks in the second half allowing Texas A&M to get right back into the game and allowed them to beat LSU by 15 points. The LSU Defense got shredded once Mike Elko benched Connor Weigman and brought in Marcel Reed who dominated LSU with his rushing ability.

Still LSU fans were optimistic that LSU would beat Alabama as the Crimson Tide showed cracks of their own. Instead, LSU's inability to stop a dual threat quarterback came back to life as Jalen Milroe rushed for four touchdowns just as he did last season. It took the offense until Alabama's second-string defense was in to finally find the endzone. Garrett Nussmeier's struggles continued as he fumbled once and threw a pair of interceptions.

This was always a deeply flawed team

While it was easy to get caught up in the hope of a new season, this team always had flaws and they've continued to bubble up. The Tigers offense was tasked with replacing a Heisman winner at Quarterback and two First Round picks at wide receiver as well as its offensive coordinator. The defense had a new coordinator as well and there were issues with talent on the defensive line and in the secondary. The Tigers flaws weren't helped either by their long list of injuries suffered throughout the season and they've finally all ended LSU's hopes.
