There's a reason why LSU is Wide Receiver U and the LSU Tigers wide receivers in the NFL continue to prove it each week. Heading into this weekend, LSU needed just 309 yards from its wide receivers to beat the record set by Miami for the most yards by receivers from the same school which Miami set in 1995 with 5,798 yards.
The Tigers entered the week needing just 308 yards away from breaking the record in the same amount of games that the Miami players did it in. On Saturday, LSU inched even closer as Ja'Marr Chase recorded 102 yards against the Denver Broncos while Kayshon Boutte added 28 yards against the Chargers.
On Sunday, LSU is just 178 yards away from breaking the record which any one of the wide receivers could easily do on their own but, they'll end up breaking it as a group.
Malik Nabers is listed as questionable to play against the Colts but, has played through injuries all season long while Adam Schefter has reported that he will play on Sunday. Nabers is also 31 yards from crossing the 1,000 yard mark as a rookie and 3 catches away from surpassing 100 catches in a season.
Justin Jefferson is the receiver that could single handedly break the 178 yard mark as he continues to be in a league of his own. Jefferson faces off against the Packers on Sunday afternoon as the Vikings continue their hunt for the top seed in the NFC. On the season, Jefferson has caught 92 passes for 1,387 yards and touchdowns trailing only Ja'Marr Chase in yards.
Brian Thomas Jr has been the best rookie wide receiver this season despite being without his starting quarterback for the majority of the season. Thomas was the first rookie receiver to cross the 1,000-yard mark this season with 1,088 yards which ranks 6th in the NFL. Brian Thomas Jr faces off against the Titans for the second time this season after beating them for 86 yards earlier this year.
Terrace Marshall Jr has been playing for the Las Vegas Raiders as of late and will look to make a solid impression before heading into the offseason. Marshall started off the season on the Panthers before being signed to the 49ers practice squad before landing with the Raiders where he's caught two passes for 13 yards. It'd be nice to see Marshall find a rhythm over these final few games so he can hopefully find a long term fit.
We'll all be waiting to see how early into Sunday LSU sets the record adding another incredible resume point for Wide Receiver U.
