The LSU Football head coaching search is barely a week old, but has already beena bumpy ride. LSU named a new university president, Wade Rousse, earlier this week, and he is reportedly set to remove the interim tag from interim AD Verge Ausberry.

Many of the top names on LSU hot boards include the likes of Lane Kiffin, Jon Sumrall, Kenny Dillingham, and Eli Drinkwitz - all of whom are current head coaches. But in the interview with Moscona, Ausberry mentions that while head coaching experience is preferred, it is not required. That could be beneficial for candidates like Joe Brady, who has thrived in his roles as passing game coordinator and WR coach at LSU, as well as the current offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills.
Ausberry also said that LSU is open to considering a coach who is coaching in the College Football Playoff this season - even if that means LSU misses out on the December signing period and the January transfer portal window.
Ausberry also mentioned that he doesn't believe Nick Saban will return to a college sideline. Shaquille O'Neal that those rumors flying around yet again with his latest comments, but Ausberry doesn't believe it will become a reality. Ausberry is in frequent communication with Saban and believes the legendary head coach is content in his current role on College GameDay.
Along with Ausberry, Rousse is now apart of a 5-member search committee to find LSU's next head coach. It's a move that LSU can't afford wo whiff on following the failed Brian Kelly era in Baton Rouge. Tiger fans are ready to compete for a National Championship again, and getting the next hire right is the first step in that process.
