The activity in the spring transfer portal window has slowed nearly to a complete stop as players can no longer enter the transfer portal but, the players still looking for next programs can still visit and commit to new schools. For the LSU Football team is was a busy offseason as a whole in the transfer portal as the LSU Football team need to add a ton of talent to the roster after a 9-4 season missing the College Football Playoff once again.

During the winter transfer portal window, the LSU Football program added the most talented group of transfers LSU has landed during the Brian Kelly era. After being quiet in the spring transfer window in 2024, Brian Kelly and his staff didn't make the same mistake this year adding two instant impact transfers that raise this team's ceiling even further.

LSU Defensive Tackle Bernard Gooden expected to be one of the most impactful transfers

The Tigers first addition of the spring transfer window was USF Defensive Tackle Bernard Gooden which was massive for the Tigers as the fanbase has begged for the team to add a high level defensive tackle for the past year. On3's Pete Nakos ranked the 10 transfer who will make the biggest impact in 2025 and ranked Bernard Gooden 4th.

It speaks to the level of player that Bernard Gooden is that he only trails 2 starting quarterbacks and a pass rusher who record 7 sacks last season. Gooden joins a young defensive line room giving the Tigers a high level player who can bridge the gap until the younger crops of defensive line talent are ready to make an impact.

Last season Bernard Gooden racked up 35 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 2 pass deflections, and 2 fumble recoveries as a force on the inside for USF. The stat that LSU fans should be most excited about are the 35 pressures Gooden accounted for as he was constantly forcing the opposing quarterback to get the football out quickly. On passing downs, having Bernard Gooden and Dominick McKinley pressuring opposing quarterbacks will only help LSU's defense in taking a massive step forward.

The notable snub from On3's list is LSU's other spring transfer portal addition, safety AJ Haulcy. On3 ranks Haulcy as the 12th best player and 2nd best safety to transfer between the Winter and Spring classes which makes it shocking that he was kept off of the list. Haulcy's ability in coverage will be a massive upgrade over Major Burns and Sage Ryan which makes it questionable to snub him from this list.
