The College GameDay crew has locked in their picks for Saturday's battle between LSU and Vanderbilt game. The Tigers enter the matchup ranked as the No. 10 team in the country while Vanderbilt isn't far behind at No. 17. In such a highly-anticipated matchup, college football fans were eager to see who the GameDay pannel would select with their picks.
That question has been answered, and only one panel member has faith in the Tigers: none other than Nick Saban. The legendary head coach said he "can't grasp" the elevation of the Vanderbilt program and believes that it's only a matter of time before the LSU offense starts rolling. He also added that Vanderbilt used to be the only "easy out" in the SEC, but that isn't the case any more. The rest of the panel, which included Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee, Kirk Herbstreit, and celebrity guest picker Jelly Roll, all picked Vanderbilt to find the win column.
The Commodores are proving that last season's 7-6 campaign wasn't a fluke, as they are 5-1 entering this pivotal Week 8 matchup. Clark Lea has turned things around in Nashville, and coming off a bye, should have his team prepared. But LSU has one of the best defenses in all of college football, and is coming off their best offensive game of the season. Garrett Nussmeier is looking healthier, and with Aaron Anderson returning, the LSU passing offense could be in line for a strong day against a Vanderbilt defense that has been susceptible through the air.
Vanderbilt was favored by 2.5 points all week long, but that number shrunk to 1.5 points right before kick-off. The total, or over/under, also increased from 47.5 to 48.5.
