The LSU Tigers have won 10 straight matchups against the Vanderbilt Commodores going back to 1991. LSU owns the all-time series lead against Vanderbilt 25-7-1, and Vandy has just one win over LSU since 1960. But these aren't the same old Commodores. Clark Lea has turned the program around and has his team with a 5-1 record and No. 17 ranking heading into this weekend.
As kick-off for Week 8's highly-anticipated matchup between the Tigers and Commodores draws nearer, here are the latest LSU vs Vanderbilt betting odds, as well as a score prediction for the game.

LSU vs Vanderbilt prediction
LSU has been doubted a lot this week. Not only are Vegas oddsmakers favoring Vanderbilt, but the Commodores are getting a lot of love in media predictions and picks. Clark Lea's team is dangerous, but LSU's defense gives the Tigers the edge. LSU's 80% stop rate ranks 4th in the country, while Vanderbilt's stop rate of 62.3% ranks 62nd nationally. Vandy has allowed 35 points to Utah State and 30 points to Alabama over its last two games. The LSU offense is coming off its best game as a whole, and the Tiger defense has allowed more than 10 points just once this season.
The Vanderbilt defense has been susceptible through the air, and Garrett Nussmeier has been great at getting the ball out quickly. The Tiger QB looked healthier against South Carolina, and having both Aaron Anderson and Trey'Dez Green available gives Vandy matchup nightmares. Furthermore, the LSU offense was finally able to play complimentary football last week against South Carolina. That needs to happen again. LSU is 25-5 under Brian Kelly when a tailback gets at least 10 carries, and 9-7 when that doesn't happen. After rushing for a season-high 166 yards last week, LSU needs to put up a similar total on the ground in this one.
Score prediction: LSU wins 27-21
