LSU vs South Carolina prediction

Against teams not named Southeastern Louisiana, LSU is averaging just 19.75 points per game this season. The Tigers are coming off a bye week that should have given them time to get back on track, but South Carolina is also coming off a bye and has had ample time to prepare. Garrett Nussmeier's health remains in question, and the lack of a vertical passing game has prevented LSU from creating big plays. The offensive line has also seen some shuffling around, and it remains to be seen how effective that group can be. South Carolina's defense hasn't been other-worldly, but they are getting healthier.

At this point in the season, the Tigers have to show that they can sustain drives, create big plays, and pull away from their opponents before expecting a convincing win. Nothing has come easy for the LSU offense, and the Tiger defense has willed the team to victory on several occasions already. The good news is that the LSU defense is in a solid position going up against a South Carolina offense that has struggled mightily this season. Blake Baker's squad should give the Tigers a great chance to win.

South Carolina has an absolute gauntlet of a schedule on deck, so Shane Beamer's squad will bring their best. The Gamecocks can be a tricky team to play against, which means this game could come down to the 4th quarter. LSU has the talent advantage, it's just a matter of putting it all together and playing complimentary football - something Tiger fans have yet to see this season. LSU should be victorious, but don't expect a blowout.

Score prediction: LSU wins 24-20
