Heading into the 2025 season, there is a ton of excitement surrounding the LSU Football team and what they may be able to do this season. The excitement is around all of the massive additions LSU made in the Transfer Portal this offseason adding key playmakers on both sides of the football. None of the additions would've been possible however, without getting Garrett Nussmeier back for one more season.
After showing flashes of being an elite quarterback in his first season as the starter, Nussmeier returns to LSU and there is hope that he can take a second year jump similar to the jumps that Jayden Daniels
On the ESPN College GameDay Podcast, Pete Thamel and Rece Davis debated who will be the best quarterback in the SEC
"I'll take Garrett Nussmeier as my All SEC Quarterback here Valentine's Day Week no problem on it."Pete Thamel
Rece Davis sided with Texas Quarterback Arch Manning winning the All-SEC First Team Quarterback Honors but, was very complimentary of Garrett Nussmeier.
"Nussmeier is as good as anybody in the Country his arm talent is ridiculous the throw are great. I guess what I'm saying is I think Texas might be better than LSU next year and that will help Arch."Rece Davis
Who will be the first-team All-SEC QB in 2025? @ReceDavis likes Arch Manning. I’m taking Garrett Nussmeier. Fun debate on @CollegeGameDay pod. We also dive in on No. 1 vs No. 2 in SEC hoops this weekend. https://t.co/fkFIc4T1vC pic.twitter.com/xOoK85FWu6

Ahead of the season, Arch Manning will certainly garner the most buzz given the flashes he's shown, the school he plays for, and his last name. While Arch Manning has flashed in his brief playing time, it may be more difficult for him as opposing defenses will have more tape on him as they look to shutdown his rushing ability. The difference may be which team overall has the better season as both quarterbacks will play in explosive offenses on two of the best teams in the SEC.
