3 Players that may regret transferring out of the LSU Football program this season
This off-season, the biggest taker of talent from the LSU Football program was the NFL Draft rather than the transfer portal. The Tigers did lose some pieces that could've been key pieces of this years LSU Football team however, the Tigers didn't lose much. These three players however, may find out that the grass wasn't greener on the other side.
Lance Heard - Offensive Tackle - Tennessee Volunteers
It's hard to be against Heard's decision to leave given the fact that he'll start at his position in the SEC this season rather than being a reserve at LSU. The argument against Heard's decision is simply Brad Davis. The Tigers offensive line coach has proven he's one of the best at developing talent and after spending another season behind Will Campbell, Heard would've likely developed into a first-round pick. At the end of the day, Heard's decision is understandable but, he could've seen playing time at guard this season given LSU's turnover.
Tygee Hill - Defensive Line - Oregon State
This entire offseason, the LSU Football team searched the transfer portal for SEC caliber defensive tackles. This was mostly due to losing three defensive tackles to the NFL Draft but, also because players like Hill transferred. Hill hasn't played a ton at LSU appearing in only nine games but, given his time spent in Baton Rouge he likely would've gotten the first look at filling playing time alongside Jacobian Guillory. The Tigers will be fine on the defensive line but, the decision to leave for Oregon State when LSU needed defensive tackles was puzzling.
Logan Diggs - Running Back - Ole Miss
There are a few things that can be true here both Diggs and LSU can be happy with the way things shook out and Diggs can feel he's better off at Ole Miss while LSU can feel its best with Kaleb Jackson at running back. At the end of the season while Diggs will do great at Ole Miss he may wish he has stuck with LSU.
If Diggs stayed at LSU its almost a certainty that he would've been given the inside track at starting running back as he did last season. Last season, Diggs rushed for 653 yards and 7 touchdowns on 118 carries. Diggs would've emerged this season with Jayden Daniels no longer on the team as well as departures from pieces who stole carries like Noah Cain and possibly Trey Holly.
Diggs will presumably fill the role of Quinshon Judkins at Ole Miss who transferred to Ohio State. Diggs will already be behind the eight ball at Ole Miss as he recovers from off-season surgery. He'll also likely be behind talented backs like Ulysses Bentley, Henry Parrish, and Rashad Amos on the depth chart upon his return. Given the talent on LSU's offensive line paired with the fact that Ole Miss brought in four transfers at running back, LSU was the better fit.
