Angel Reese Continues To Impress As WNBA All Star Voting Opens
Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese contributed the most complete performance of her professional career Wednesday as her team lost a close game to the league leading Connecticut Suns. Reese scored a season high 20 points on 8 of 10 shooting and notched her fifth career double double with 10 rebounds.
The game showcased the recent explosion in Reese's offensive numbers, as she broke a Sky franchise record for consecutive double doubles by a rookie set by fellow LSU alum Sylvia Fowles in 2008. She also became the first rookie in her draft class to reach 100 points and 100 rebounds this season, beating both Caitlin Clark and Cameron Brink.
Reese's continued growth on the offensive end of the court has put her squarely in the conversation for not only rookie of the year honors, but also All Star recognition. Voting for the 20th WNBA All Star Game roster opened on June 13th, with many predicting Reese as a dark horse contender to make the team.
Angel Reese will have another opportunity to shine on the national stage this weekend, as the Sky face Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever for the second time this season. After the drama of the two teams' last meeting on June 1st, a one point win by the Fever, Reese will look to continue her outstanding play on both ends of the floor.
Fans can vote for their choices for the WNBA All Star team until June 29th, and the rosters will be announced on July 2nd based on votes from fans, current players, and sportswriters.
