Former LSU basketball star Angel Reese and her Chicago Sky upset the previously undefeated New York Liberty 90 - 81 on their home court Thursday night. The Sky entered the game as 16.5 point underdogs, but a fourth quarter scoring blitz from Chicago secured the hard fought win against one of the WNBA's hottest teams.

Reese continued to struggle offensively throughout the game and found herself in foul trouble early in the third quarter. She finished with 13 points on just 3 for 10 shooting, but proved her clutch value by scoring 8 of those points in the final 10 minutes of the game. The former Bayou Barbie has failed to find a consistent rhythm offensively through the first three games of her professional career but was effective getting to the foul line last night, making 7 of 9 free throw attempts.

Tasked with defending the reigning league MVP Breanna Stewart, Reese's relentless effort in the second half slowed her to an 18 point, 10 rebound outing. Before Thursday's game, Stewart had high praise for the rookie in a New York Post interview:

"She’s a workhorse. She doesn’t stop. She’s tough, she’s strong, she’s tough to box out and good at cleaning up for her team offensively and defensively."

Angel Reese and the Sky will look to capitalize on their winning momentum as they head home to face the Connecticut Sun on Saturday.
