Bo Davis lands LSU Football another defensive tackle from Texas
It seems like every couple of days, the LSU Football team lands another recruit on the recruiting trail. The NCAA's decision to eliminate walk-ons while raising roster limits may see the size of recruiting classes go up thanks to the 20 additional scholarships. We may see the LSU Football team sign anywhere from thirty to forty recruits this cycle thanks to the rule change.
Today, Bo Davis has landed his third commitment at defensive tackle landing Dilan Battle to pair with Zion Williams and Brandon Brown.
The commitment comes sort of as a shock as On3's recruiting prediction machine gave LSU just a 12.1% chance of landing Battle. Battle ranks as the 53rd ranked defensive tackle in the class and the 569th overall recruit as a three-star recruit according to On3's Industry recruiting rankings. Ignore Battle's lower ranking as Bo Davis has proven to find under ranked defensive tackles landing Zion Williams and Brandon Brown before they took massive leaps in the rankings.
This commitment comes as somewhat of a surprise as Battle wasn't one of the recruits constantly popping up in recruiting updates. This spring, defensive tackle was a point of emphasis as the Tigers scoured the transfer portal for defensive tackles and now they have three commitments. The recruit to keep an eye on now is Walter Mathis Jr at defensive tackle who the Tigers have been seriously pushing for.
The new coaching staff is dominating recruiting
Aside from the obvious much needed change in defensive scheme, the LSU Football team hired this defensive staff for their recruiting prowess. Across the board, Bo Davis, Blake Baker, Corey Raymond, Jake Olsen, and the rest of the staff have landed massive commitments. We'll need to see the group in action but, LSU's new staff has been a massive boost on the recruiting trail.
