The Fourth of July is a massive day for recruiting as several of the Nation's top recruits plan on announcing their commitments. Coming into the day three massive LSU targets plan on announcing their commitments in defensive tackle Zion Williams, Defensive tackle Brandon Brown, and Wide Receiver and former LSU Commit Dakorien Moore.

The Tigers' fourth of July is off to a great start as LSU has landed four star-defensive tackle Zion Williams.

The Texas native is ranked by the On3 Industry Ranking as the 366th-best player in the country and the 31st-ranked defensive tackle. The LSU Football team now holds the Nation's fourth-ranked recruiting class with 13 commitments.

The LSU Tigers were always the team to watch in this recruitment thanks to defensive line coach Bo Davis. Bo Davis had been recruiting Williams while he was the defensive line coach at Texas and the bond he built and kept made LSU the top choice for Williams.

Landing high-quality interior defensive linemen in this class is a priority as LSU spent the entire off-season searching the transfer portal for defensive tackles that were difference makers.

The Push for Top Defensive Talent for LSU

If National Signing Day were to happen tomorrow, LSU would be incredibly happy with the class of players on offense in its signing class while defensively this class needs work. The good news for LSU is that a ton of their top defensive targets will commit in July with Brandon Brown on the 4th, Damien Shanklin on the 5th, Jhase Thomas on the 13th, and DJ Pickett on July 17th. A positive month could see LSU's recruiting class rise as high as the top spot while it would also make Brian Kelly and his staff feel a lot better about his class.
