Brian Kelly shares thoughts on LSU's Win, injury updates, and more in his Post Game
The LSU Football team picked up its fourth win in a row beating the South Alabama Jaguars heading into the bye week on a positive note. This wasn't the prettiest of games, especially in the second half where both teams scored just seven points but, the Tigers were never in trouble in this game. After the game, Brian Kelly hit on a few key points following the game in his press conference.
This game's MVP was far and away Caden Durham who totaled 217 yards and two touchdowns on ten touches. Unfortunately, we didn't see Durham in the second half, as he had an injury. After the game, Brian Kelly eased the minds of the fans as he called the injury a minor foot injury.
When speaking on how he feels about the team and the progress they've made heading into the bye week, Brian Kely said the following:
"Bottom line is we’ve gotten better over the last five weeks, and that’s what we’ve needed to do heading into the bye week."
- Brian Kelly
This was arguably Garrett Nussmeier's worst game of the season as he turned the ball over twice on two interceptions. Brian Kelly spoke on the two picks Nussmeier threw saying the following:
"I’m not here panicked tonight with the two interceptions…these were decisions that were correctable."
- Brian Kelly
The two picks Nussmeier did throw came as a result of him seemingly forcing throws which shouldn't be too much of a worry as it was the first time we saw this from him.
The biggest moment in this game was when South Alabama had a chance to make this somewhat of a game in the third quarter. The Tigers' defense stood tall and forced a fourth and goal where Whit Weeks made an incredible play. Kelly spoke on Weeks' play and what it meant for this team saying the following:
"He changed the complexion of the game with the goal line stand. I don’t know if it would’ve put them back in the game, but it ended the game."
- Brian Kelly
LSU has found itself in an incredible spot
While losing the season opener was less than ideal, LSU has put itself in a spot to right the ship when they return from the Bye Week. The Tigers have four ranked opponents left on its schedule and they'll get Ole Miss after the Bye Week which could put LSU back into the playoff picture. If LSU is able to win three of four games against Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Alabama, and Oklahoma it will find itself in the College Football Playoff.
