Amidst all of the recruiting commitments and announcements taking place on the July 4th weekend, five-star receiver Dakorien Moore committed to the Oregon Ducks. This dealt a blow to LSU as Dakorien Moore was committed to LSU up until May when he reopened his recruitment. The Tigers were hoping to get Moore back on board as the Tigers only hold a commitment from one wide receiver from in-state star TaRon Francis.

The issue for LSU however, isn't just missing out on Dakorien Moore but, what it means for other top receivers. The biggest threat to land Moore was seemingly Texas who went 0-2 in keeping the five-star receiver in-state. The Longhorns now after missing out on Moore while struggling with keeping other talents in-state will likely ramp up its efforts to keep five-star receiver Kaliq Lockett in-state.

The same can be said about fellow five-star wide receiver Jaime Ffrench although he's from Florida. The Tigers were seemingly making headway in the recruitment of Ffrench however, Ffrench and Lockett have had talks about teaming up together. After this past weekend was a disaster for Texas expect the Longhorns to ramp up their NIL push in hopes of landing both Ffrench and Lockett.

Who's next if LSU can't land Ffrench or Lockett?

If the LSU Football team can't lure in either of it's five star targets things look bleak for the Tigers at the position this recruiting cycle. The Tigers are in on four-star receiver Derek Meadows and will likely have a hat on the table when he commits but, it looks like Notre Dame and Alabama have more momentum. The Tigers could push for and likely flip in-state three-star Russell Babineaux who's currently committed to the Ragin Cajuns. The best path for LSU for landing receivers may be once coaches begin to get fired as LSU was in on receivers committed to Florida, Baylor, and Arkansas.
