The LSU Tigers are hosting the UCLA Bruins as the final game in a much spread out Home and Home between the two schools. The LSU Football team played their away portion of this series back in 2021 which is one of the games often noted in LSU's season opening loss streak.

Much has changed since this game, for starters the rosters on both side of this roster have undergone a ton of turnover. The coaches in this game have changed since that game as well as Chip Kelly left this past offseason to take the offensive coordinator job at Ohio State while Ed Orgeron was fired from LSU in 2021.

The game against UCLA was a massive reason for Orgeron's firing as things truly started to unravel with this loss. Orgeron was coming off of a disastrous 2020 season and entered the season as the 16th ranked team in the AP Poll. As things fell apart in 2020, Orgeron desperately needed a solid season in 2021.

In his entrance into the Rose Bowl, Orgeron made a viral comment to a trolling fan attacking the color of UCLA's uniforms.

"Bring your a** in your lil sissy blue shirt"

Ed Orgeron

UCLA jumped on the moment quickly launching branded apparel with the quote "Sissy Blue" on the shirts.

When the game started, the only thing that looked soft was the LSU defense allowing 210 yards on the ground and 260 yards through the air as UCLA cruised to a 38-27 victory. The lone bright spot for LSU was a massive 148 yard three touchdown performance from Kayshon Boutte.

A chance to flip the script on Saturday

UCLA's massive win was a boost for Chip Kelly and also sent LSU on its way to a 6-7 finish missing a bowl game. This weekend, a massive win would be a small but, much needed boost for Brian Kelly while it would deal another blow to UCLA after Indiana dealt them a big one this past weekend. It's also aptly fitting that LSU enters the game as the AP Poll's 16th ranked team like they were in 2021.
