We finally have seen the return of the NFL as every team was in action this weekend. Around the league there were 51 LSU Tigers on active rosters making a massive impact for their teams. While week one was very sloppy for every team around the league, there were five LSU Tigers with satndout performances.

Tyrann Mathieu

The New Orleans Saints likely gave many LSU fans a very enjoyable Sunday as they cruised to a 47-10 victory over the Panthers. One of the best plays of the game and one of the best defensive plays of the weekend was made by none other than the Honey Badger. Tyrann Mathieu made an incredible forcing a fumble on Jonathan Mingo before capping off the play recovering the fumble.

This is also the same Panthers team that cut Terrace Marshall Jr, today they managed just 161 yards through the air while Bryce Young threw two interceptions.

Malik Nabers

Malik Nabers got to kick off his career in the NFL against another LSU standout Justin Jefferson. Daniel Jones had an awful day for the New York Giants but, he looked his best when he was targeting Malik Nabers. The rookie finished the day with five catches for 66 yards on seven targets which is a number that has to grow in these next few games if the Giants are going to be competitive. Brian Daboll may have to turn this offense over to Drew Lock as Jones clearly is going through some issues.

Justin Jefferson

It was a pretty easy going day for the Minnesota Vikings against the New York Giants as they just decimated the New York Giants. The Giants clearly game planned around stopping Justin Jefferson but, the Vikings were just playing keep away for most of the second half. The Giants plan didn't exactly work as Jefferson picked up 44 of his 59 yards on a beautiful deep ball from Sam Darnold before later scoring.

We also got a glimpse of Jefferson and Nabers sharing a moment following Nabers' debut.

Brian Thomas Jr

The other rookie receiver made a massive impact for the Jaguars even though they fell just short against their in-state rivals. Brian Thomas Jr faced off against the Dolphins and often found himself matched up against one of the league's best cornerbacks in Jalen Ramsey. Well Ramsey and safety help couldn't slow Thomas as he caught four passes for 47 yards and this touchdown.

Jayden Daniels

All eyes were on number five as the Jayden Daniels era began for the Washington Commanders. While the Commanders lost, it's hard not to believe that Jayden Daniels has what it takes to turn this team around. Daniels finished the day completing 17 passes on 24 attempts for 184 yards while he rushed for 88 yards and a pair of touchdowns. We'd like to see Kliff Kingsbury dial up some more deep balls but, overall Daniels was impressive.

A quiet week but, more is on the way

Overall, there weren't any massive performances from the LSU Tigers in the NFL. This will change as these teams continue to get into a rhythm. Look at the Cincinnati Bengals, Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase had average days likely as a result of him missing camp but, going forward the two will put up massive weeks. We look forward to continuing to see the growth of LSU's rookies in the NFL and the massive weeks the veterans will put on.
