Former LSU Football Tight End transfers to Nebraska just days before the season
Under Brian Kelly, the position group that has gone from a weakness to a strength is the tight end position. Kelly has made the position a priority and heading into the season the trio of Mason Taylor, Ka'Morreun Pimpton, and Trey'Dez Green are expected to have a massive impact. Heading into camp however, a fourth tight end was expected to play a big role for the LSU Football team in 2024.
Mac Markway shockingly decided to leave the program in the middle of Summer camp despite being in contention for playing time. While it was a loss that hurt especially given his eligibility remaining, it was likely due to the development of Pimpton and Green.
As a true freshman, Markway appeared in twelve games making a start while Mason Taylor was injured. In his limited playing time, Markway flashed as a blocker while catching three passes for 16 yards and a touchdown.
When Markway entered the transfer portal many expected he'd transfer closer to St Louis, Missouri where he calls home or to Iowa where his father played. Markway now lands in Lincoln as he transfers to the Nebraska Cornhuskers joining Matt Rhule's team.
It's unclear whether or not Markway will be elligible to play immediatley which will be something to keep an eye on. The Cornhuskers do boast an incredible tight end room so Markway won't be a starter from day one.
The LSU Tight end room is so exciting
The LSU Football team has a ton of exciting components but, it's easy to say that the tight end room is the most exciting. The veteran Mason Taylor returns and with Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr off to the NFL, he could easily lead this team in receiving. The player that has been turning heads all camp is Ka'Morreun Pimpton who will be a match nightmare for any defender he faces. Finally, you have the true freshman All-American Trey'Dez Green who will make a massive impact as a true freshman.
