Jay Johnson lands Crown Jewel Pitcher of LSU Baseball's transfer class
This offseason Jay Johnson has made it clear the LSU Baseball team will be back and fully loaded in 2025. The Tigers have had a massive transfer portal haul bringing in 12 players and eight of which are pitchers as the LSU Tigers overhaul their staff. On Tuesday, the LSU Tigers landed the massive power threat it needed to land to replace Tommy White in Daniel Dickinson.
Wednesday night saw the Tigers land a pitcher that could easily be a Friday night starting pitcher for the 2025 season. UC San Diego right handed pitcher Anthony Eyanson has committed to the LSU Baseball team after spending two seasons on the West Coast.
In 2024, Eyanson was dominant with a 6-2 record in 14 appearances with a 3.07 ERA across 82 innings of work striking out 85 batters. The right-handed pitcher was heavily recruited visiting Tennessee this past weekend before picking the Tigers.
The pitcher utilizes a three-pitch mix with a four-seam fastball that tops out at 97 MPH, a slider, and a curveball. Eyanson is spending the summer on Team USA's Collegiate National Team where he'll continue to develop.
The Tigers will get Eyanson on campus as he's not eligible for the MLB Draft until 2025 but, he's already garnering buzz as an early draft pick next season.
Hard to envision a world where LSU Baseball isn't in Omaha
After this off-season, it's really hard to imagine a world where LSU isn't hosting a Regional and a Super Regional potentially ending up in Omaha. After the Tigers had their struggles early on in 2024, Johnson has gone out and gotten players that will make LSU a contender the entire season. The only concern with this many moving pieces is that they may not gel early on but, Johnson will have a group of players capable of competing for a National Championship.
