The LSU Baseball team entered Sunday with a tall task ahead of them needing to win three games in two days to advance to Super Regionals after losing to North Carolina. The LSU Tigers sent Nate Ackenhausen to the mound while Wofford sent Camden Wicker to the mound. Jay Johnson went with lefty Nate Ackenhausen to the mound to help neutralize the Wofford Terriers' aggressive baserunning as LSU experienced it on Friday.

Ackenhausen experienced what Wofford was all about early as speedster Marshall Toole got on to lead the bottom of the first followed by a bunt single, a RBI single, and another bunt for a base hit putting Wofford up 2-0. The Terriers forced Jay Johnson into turning to Griffin Herring in just the first inning. Wofford scored a third run on catchers interference before stretching their lead to five in a disasterious first inning.

LSU chipped away as Josh Pearson led the second off with a double before being driven in by Michael Braswell III before Jake Brown drove in Ashton Larson to cut the deficit to three runs. LSU would then chip off another run as Ashton Larson drove in Michael Braswell III.

The Terriers would push their lead back to three runs in the bottom of the fourth on a sac fly. LSU would strike back almost immediately with Josh Pearson hitting a two-run home run to cut the deficit to one.

The two out magic continued as Brady Neal came up with a massive RBI single to finally tie the game back up. The Tigers would load the bases in the 7th where Jake Brown and Alex Milazzo did fantastic jobs with great situational baseball as Brown drove in the go-ahead run with a sac fly and Milazzo gave the Tigers an insurance run with an infield single and a throwing error.

Griffin Herring came up huge for the Tigers today, allowing just one run on five hits with seven strikeouts across 6.1 innings pitched in the longest outing of his college career after begging Jay Johnson to allow him to pitch the seventh.

Josh Pearson provided yet another big base hit driving in another run before Brady Neal blew the game open with a massive base hit to blow the game open allowing LSU to save some of its high-leverage relievers. The ninth inning did provide one worrisome moment as Tommy White took a pitch off the wrist, he appeared to be fine but, it's certainly something to keep an eye on.

Quick Turnaround for the LSU Tigers

The LSU Tigers will now have a short break before taking on the North Carolina Tigers in a rematch of Saturday's matchup. The game will be played at 6:00 PM Eastern Time on Sunday Night. If the Tigers are able to win tonight, they'll face North Carolina again on Monday with the winner advancing to Super Regionals. The LSU Tigers have no wiggle room now with any loss ending their season unless they beat UNC twice. A positive sign for the Tigers is that they put together great at-bats all day today rather than relying on the long ball which may be needed to knock off North Carolina.
