The off-season is officially underway for the LSU Baseball team as Jay Johnson now focuses on constructing his roster for next season. The LSU Baseball team is awaiting decisions from Tommy White, Luke Holman, Gage Jump, Thatcher Hurd, Jared Jones, and Christian Little as all will likely be picked in the upcoming MLB Draft. Griffin Herring is another player to watch as he could return to LSU to gain experience as a starter.

The LSU Baseball team has already seen some departures as Zeb Ruddell, Nic Bronzini, Cam Johnson, Derrick Mitchell, Aiden Moffett, Micah Bucknam, and Austen Roelling have all entered the transfer portal.

The LSU Tigers however, have already made a massive move to bolster the back end of the bullpen. Former USF Relief Pitcher Chandler Dorsey has verbally committed to Jay Johnson and LSU Baseball. At USF last season, Dorsey pitched 30 innings recording 8 saves with a 3.60 ERA while striking out 41 batters. Dorsey will come to LSU as a Sophomore with three seasons of elligibility remaining.

This is a massive move for the LSU Baseball team as they now have a pitcher they can pencil into the closer role next season. Adding a top tier arm in the bullpen is especially important if LSU loses Griffin Herring or if he returns as a starting pitcher.

Massive Changes on the Way for LSU Baseball

The LSU Baseball team will likely lose it's two best power hitters to the MLB while nearly all of the team's top pitchers may also depart for the draft. Jay Johnson has plenty of work to do during this transfer period to build this roster back into a National Championship contender. The team will have plenty of talent returning and if the right pieces are brought in the Tigers may return to the top of college baseball.
