LSU Baseball Pitcher Thatcher Hurd enters the Transfer Portal
The LSU Baseball program has had a hectic offseason to say the least as Paul Mainieri returned to college baseball while Jay Johnson has been working hard to rebuild the roster for the 2025 season. The LSU baseball team has made some massive additions especially on the pitching side of the roster however, Jay Johnson now has another player to replace.
Right handed starting pitcher Thatcher Hurd has entered the transfer portal with a no contact tag meaning that his next destination is likely known. The Tigers initally added Thatcher Hurd from UCLA as he transferred to LSU spending two seasons with the Tigers.
This season wasn't exactly Hurd's best as he had a 6.6 ERA but, he's still a massive loss for Jay Johnson. Down the stretch of the season, Hurd was a vital piece with massive outings against South Carolina in the SEC Tournament and against North Carolina in the Chapel Hill Regional of the NCAA Tournament.
While Hurd was a massive part of the LSU Baseball team these past two seasons, he's been a massive part of helping out Baton Rouge with his volunteer work and donations to local food banks.
LSU Baseball will have a whole new look in 2025
The LSU Baseball team will look drastically different compared to what we saw this season in 2025. The Tigers will lose intergal pieces ot the MLB Draft like Tommy White, Luke Holman, and potentially Jared Jones and Gagre Jump. The Tigers have also seen a load of talent enter the transfer portal however, Jay Johnson has worked hard to replace it with even better talent in the transfer portal. It'll be fascinating to see what this roster looks like heading into 2025 as LSU looks to return to National Title contention.
