The LSU Baseball team after about just two hour of rest following a comeback win over Wofford were tasked with facing North Carolina whom they lost to on Saturday to keep the season alive. Having burned Griffin Herring to beat Wofford the LSU Tigers sent Thatcher Hurd to the mound while North Carolina pitched Junior Aidan Haugh.

The LSU offense put the pressure on Aidan Baugh nearly immediately as Bear Jones drew a two out walk setting up a massive two-run bomb by Josh Pearson. Coming into today, the last time Pearson ahd hit a home run was on April 23rd yet, with the season on the line Pearson came up with two massive home runs between two games. LSU would add to its lead thanks to a massive two- out RBI single from Michael Braswell.

UNC finally cracked Thatcher Hurd with timely hitting in the top of the fourth to cut LSU's lead to 2 runs but, Thatcher Hurd paints the corner getting a strikeout looking to get out of trouble.

LSU lineup chased Aidan Haugh after three innings pitched getting five hits off of Haugh scoring three runs while walking twice. The LSU lineup then recorded two straight walks while trying to advance Hayden Travinski loading the bases for Tommy White while chasing Percival before he could record an out. Tommy White and Steven Milam would then hit back-to-back singles giving LSU a massive 6-1 lead. Josh Pearson would hit into a double play but, he also scored Tommy White making the score 7-1.

Hayden Travinski would join in the fun blasting a solo homerun himself to extend the LSU lead in the bottom of the fifth.

The Tar Heels fought back in the top of the sixth loading the bases and scoring a run before Fidel Ulloa slammed the door keeping LSU up 8-2. North Carolina kept chipping away cutting LSU's lead to four in the 7th inning. Vance Honeycutt came up with two on and two outs in the eighth with a chance to suddenly make this game close but, Gavin Guidry got a massive strikeout to maintain the LSU lead. Guidry would load the bases in the ninth but, got two massive outs to close the game out.

The entire season comes down to Monday's Game

The LSU Baseball team did an incredible job on Sunday winning against two explosive offenses to force a win and move on game on Monday night. After playing two games on Sunday it is unclear which pitchers will be available meaning that LSU's offense will need to show up as it did all day Sunday. The Tigers may be able to start Nate Ackenhausen again as he didn't throw a ton of pitches against Wofford. If LSU can win on Monday to advance to Super Regionals it'll be a massive accomplishment for a team that early on this season looked like it may take a miracle for this team to even make the NCAA Tournament.
