LSU Football beating the Trojans could be massive for recruiting purposes
When it comes to starting the season on the right note, the LSU Football team has struggled losing every season opener since the 2019 season. This season brings a unique challenge as the Tigers take on the 23rd ranked USC Trojans in Las Vegas. Winning the game would give LSU a massive resume piece for making the expanded 12 team College Football Playoff.
Winning in Las Vegas will also be massive for LSU Football on the recruiting trail where the Tigers have been dominant.
The LSU Football team will have arguably its biggest recruiting target regardless of recruiting class in attendance for the season opener. Saint Augustine defensive lineman Jahkeem Stewart is one of the Nation's most sought after recruits and the LSU Tigers are at ot near the top of his list.
The USC Trojans are among LSU's biggest challengers and USC continues their push to nab Stewart. The Trojans made a strong impression when Stewart visited USC and at Elite 11 with Lincoln Riley and Pete Carroll making a strong impression with Stewart.
On3, Rivals, and ESPN all rank Stewart as the top overall recruit in the 2026 recruiting class while 24/7 Sports lists Stewart as their 12th best recruit in the class. On3's recruiting prediction machine gives LSU a 91.3% chance of landing Stewart but, the recruitment is much closer than that.
Bo Davis will be a massive part of recruiting Jahkeem Stewart but, this will be a Frank Wilson recruitment which bodes well for LSU. Wilson has connections with St Augustine having nabbed Leonard Fournette, Tyrann Mathieu, and Trai Turner from the school among other players.
In-state success will determine how LSU fairs in 2026 class
The LSU Football team already holds the eighth ranked recruiting class in 2026 thanks to four in-state commitments headlined by four-stars Aiden Hall and Richard Anderson. In Anderson and Hall, LSU holds commitments from two players ranked inside the top 120 recruits while five recruits in the top 50 nationally come from Louisiana. The Tigers have made strong pushes for Stewart, Lamar Brown, Blaine Bradford, Jabari Mack, and Brysten Martinez but, with this much talent in LSU's backyard the Tigers must pounce.
