LSU Football eyeing commitments from five-star receiver and a defensive tackle today
The red hot LSU Football program will look to continue it's hot streak on the recruiting trail today as two of LSU's top uncommitted recruiting targets are set to make their commitments. Between the commitment of Aidan Anding and now, LSU into the second ranking according to On3 and only trail Alabama while in On3's recruiting industry rankings still have the Tigers at three but, in striking distance of the top spot.
If the LSU Football team lands five star wide receiver Jaime Ffrench today, they'll be within decimal points of the Nation's top recruiting class. Ffrench is rated as a five-star recruit in On3's Industry rankings as the 18th best player in the class and the third best wide receiver. The Florida Native will be choosing between LSU, Texas, Miami, and Tennessee.
As we've gotten closer to Ffrench's commitment, the Texas Longhorns will be the favorite when he begins to announce his commitment. The Tigers are still in a solid place, as a team that's been recruiting Ffrench for a long time and given the fact that Ffrench has family ties in Louisiana, in-state Miami and LSU will have the best chances at pulling off a flip.
If you're looking for a reason to believe that Ffrench will pick LSU, look at the fact that he took a visit to Baton Rouge for the Bayou Splash recruiting weekend where the staff made a full court press. Ffrench landing at Texas could land in LSU's favor as the Tigers can start to pry at Jonah Williams, Kaliq Lockett, and Jonah Williams especially as the class will have two five-star receivers.
The LSU Football team should, however, pick up a commitment tomorrow from Walter "Buddy" Mathis. The Georgia native is clearly a recruit that the services are wrong on as he's a three-star recruit however, he has offers from LSU, Oregon, Miami, Alabama, Clemson, and Georgia among his 30 scholarship offers. On3's industry recruiting rankings have Mathis as the 456th-best player in the class and the 42nd-ranked defensive tackle.
Impressive defensive tackle class being built this cycle
Landing Mathis would give LSU a fourth commitment on the defensive line marking an incredible recruiting cycle for Bo Davis. We saw in the Spring how much LSU was looking to revamp this defensive tackle room and it was clearly a top priority this cycle. The Tigers just brought in an impressive defensive tackle class the year prior in Dominick McKinley, Gabe Reliford, Ahmad Breaux, and Shone Washington and stacking classes this talented will be massive for the team going forward.
