LSU Football fans get their first look at Jayden Daniels in a Commanders Jersey
Washington Commanders fans can finally order their Jayden Daniels jerseys as the rookie quarterback officially has his jersey number. Punter Tress Way has given Jayden Daniels the number 5 allowing the second overall pick to wear the number he won the Heisman Trophy in.
Daniels spoke on what it meant to get the number 5 from Tress Way saying the following:
After getting his number from Tress Way, Jayden Daniels and the rest of the Commanders rookies took the field kicking off the rookie minicamp.
The Commanders' rookie duo of Jayden Daniels and Luke McCaffrey were building a chemistry as the team's top rookie receiver looks to get onto the same page as Daniels. He also started to build a connection with rookie tight end Ben Sinnott and undrafted free agent Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint.
While it's early, the Commanders' fanbase, coaching staff, and media appear excited with what Jayden Daniels is showing at camp. The team is looking to return to the playoffs on a consistent basis as the franchise has been a true rollercoaster over the past twenty years. The drafting of Jayden Daniels alongside the change in ownership as well as the hiring of Dan Quinn are signaling a change in direction for a once rocky franchise.
The only downside from Fridays practice was the news that Jayden Daniels and Malik Nabers had to cancel their rookie of the year bet after learning about the NFL's gambling policies.
Jayden Daniels looking to give the Commanders hope again
The Washington Commanders now have a chance to seriously change the direction of their franchise after years of disappointments. The Commanders haven't had a playmaker with Jayden Daniels ability at the quarterback position since Robert Griffin III's rookie season. If Jayden Daniels can prove to be the dynamic playmaker he's been at the college level in the NFL, the team could instantly compete within a difficult NFC East.
