The LSU Football team has lost what may be it's biggest transfer portal departure in running back John Emery Jr. Emery was a five-star recruit who's entering the portal as a graduate transfer after rushing for 1,062 yards. Emery suffered a torn ACL in November limiting his production for this LSU Football team.

The loss of Emery Jr isn't a massive blow to the LSU Football team as Josh Williams, Kaleb Jackson, and Caden Durham were ahead of him on the depth chart. The loss of Emery however makes adding another running back in the transfer portal more important as the team may not have Trey Holly who's still dealing with legal issues. Emery's LSU tenure will be seen as a disappointment as the back showed serious promise during his time however, injuries derailed his Tigers career.

The LSU Football team has also lost true freshman offensive lineman Joe Cryer. Cryer was a three-star recruit in the 2024 recruiting class as an interior offensive lineman. The move is certainly puzzling as the LSU offensive line is one of if not the best in the country so it's hard to imagine that Cryer was going to see playing time in 2024. This does hurt the team's depth for 2025 and beyond as the offensive line will likely lose Will Campbell, Emery Jones Jr, Miles Frazier, and Garrett Dellinger after this season.

LSU Football: Still no massive losses

The LSU Football team hasn't lost any major contributors to the transfer portal this Spring. This is a massive win in itself as major media outlets expected this Spring Transfer Window to bring utter chaos. The loss of depth pieces allows for Brian Kelly and the coaching staff to pursue high-caliber players that will give the team potential starters for this season and beyond. The Tigers continue their pursuit for defensive linemen which should start resulting in commitments in the near future.
