All of the focus has been on the LSU Football's 2025 recruiting class and for perfectly good reason as the Tigers currently hold the Nation's third-ranked class. The month of August has landed LSU players like Phillip Wright, CJ Jimcoily, and Mike Tyler to further build out this recruiting class. The Tigers have sneakily gotten off to a great start in the 2026 class which ranks 9th headlined by commitments from Aiden Hall and Rich Anderson while all four commitments are from in-state recruits.

The Tigers have a strong in-state base to focus on in this recruiting class but, the Tigers will have to look out of state for a few recruits in this class. The one position where LSU has been on fire recruiting as of late is linebacker.

Blake Baker has arguably the top linebacking core in his first recruiting cycle at LSU and it's without flipping any recruits from Missouri. Given LSU's recent success both developing linebackers and recruiting them, LSU should carry its momentum into the 2026 recruiting class.

The Tigers threw their name into contention for another top linebacker in the 2026 recruiting class by offering a scholarship to Izayia Williams.

On3 ranks Williams as the third-best linebacker in the class and the 41st-ranked recruit in the 2026 class. Williams was committed to Syracuse until this month when he reopened his recruitment. The in-state Florida schools, specifically the Gators are the presumed favorites in this recruitment. Given all the time before this class signs, expect Blake Baker to make a serious run at Williams.
