LSU Football picks up a Crystal Ball Prediction for a player with family ties
While most of the attention on the recruiting trail has gone to LSU Football's third ranked recruiting class in 2025, the Tigers have done an excellent job early on in the 2026 recruiting cycle. The Tigers currently hold the ninth ranked recruiting class in the 2026 cycle with four commitments on board already.
The Tigers have gotten off to this fast part as Brian Kelly and his staff have dominated in state recruiting keeping Louisiana's best at home. The Tigers have a chance to do so again while having family times to assist in recruiting.
Darryus McKinley is one of the best players in the 2026 recruiting class out of Louisiana ranked as the 220th best player in the class, the 21st ranked defensive lineman, and the 8th best player in Louisiana. The name likely sounds familiar as he is the brother of former five-star recruit and current LSU defensive tackle Dominick McKinley.
The Tigers have pushed to land Darryus as well and it may be paying off as Steve Wiltfong of On3 projects that LSU will land Darryus McKinley.
On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine has the same outcome projected as LSU is given a 96.9% chance to land the Acadiana star while Texas A&M is next in line with a 1% chance to shock LSU.
McKinley won't be the only player with family ties that LSU pushes for
This weekend, LSU will have a few more relatives inside of Tiger Stadium as the program looks to continue some of their success on the recruiting trail. Zach Weeks is a highly touted linebacker in the 2026 class and is also the younger brother of Whit and Wes and will be in attendance this weekend. 2027 quarterback recruit Colton Nussmeier will make the trip as well where he'll get to see Joe Sloan again and watch Garrett start at quarterback. Finally 2025 and 2026 targets for LSU Jacob and Blaine Bradford will be in attendance as LSU looks to get both defensive backs on board.
