The start of the LSU Football season is just days away as the Tigers finish game preparations and head out West seeking a ranked win to start the season. The offense will be filled with a ton of first-time starters while the defense features a ton of returnees looking to improve on their 2023 seasons. If the LSU Football team is going to be successful in 2024, these players will shatter their career highs.

Garrett Nussmeier - Quarterback

With Garrett Nussmeier I could easily just write his name and move on to the next position as he's going to demolish his previous career highs. The season where Nussmeier achieved his career highs was 2022 when he threw for 800 yards with 5 touchdowns and four interceptions. In 2023, Nussmeier likely would've beaten that benchmark if Jayden Daniels wasn't pushing for the Heisman Trophy.

How many weeks will it realistically take for Nussmeier to surpass 800 yards and five touchdowns? Nicholls State being the week two opponent hurts so Nussmeier should smash his career best in Week Three.

Garrett Nussmeier is finally the full-time starter which is incredible to see given how long he's stayed at LSU without entering the transfer portal. Nussmeier's experience filling in for Daniels and in garbage time will prove to be helpful in 2024.

Kaleb Jackson - Running Back

Out go the LSU Football team's two leading rushers Jayden Daniels and Logan Diggs meaning someone has to step up at running back. Josh Williams will get a ton of carries this season but, this is ultimately Kaleb Jackson's backfield. The Sophomore has bulked up putting on nearly twenty pounds and he's looked like a monster in Camp.

As a Freshman, Jackson only carried the ball 31 times for 165 yards and four touchdowns catching six passes for 53 yards. Jackson flashed his explosiveness rushing for 5.3 yards per carry and his power trucking a Mississippi State defender into a different state.

There would be a ton of excitement for the growth of Kaleb Jackson on it's own but, then you get into the other factors. The Tigers boast the Nation's top offensive line which will pave the way for Kaleb Jackson who should certainly surpass the 1,000 yard mark. We could realistically, see Jackson surpass his career highs in week one while he'll certainly do it in the first few weeks of the season.
